Swann's 'Eye in the Sky'
04 November 2005
‘Smart Computing’ has featured Swann in the ‘Plugged In’ section of the December edition. The article, titled ‘Eye in the Sky – Your Own Remote Security System’ profiles three remote monitoring security systems, one being the Swann PC DVR-4-Net Security Guardian.

The article, written by Gregory Anderson, reviewed the Swann PC DVR-4-Net against other similar security monitoring systems. Upon comparison, Anderson commented ‘Swann’s is a more traditional video surveillance system - the camera video feeds can connect to a VCR, television, or recorder as easily as they connect to the PC DVR-4 Net with expansion card and software’.
Anderson examines the ease of installation steps for the PC DVR-4-Net. ‘Systems such as Swann’s PC DVR-4-Net require installing a PCI expansion card.’ The article examines the ease of: ‘disconnect the power and other cables, open the case, find a spare slot, secure the card to the chassis, and replace the cover. Boot up and run the included software to install the card’s device drivers.’ Once installed and compared against the other systems, Anderson noted that ‘Swann’s configuration was a bit simpler after installing the expansion card and its software.’
The article doesn’t give the products an overall rating, ‘Whatever your system, you’ll enjoy the ability to keep an eye out, anytime and anywhere.’
